Keep Fit While Having Fun - Activities You Should Try Out With Friends And Family.

We all realise how important physical activity is, in order to boost our metabolism, build muscle and burn up those calories and extra fat we are trying to lose. If we are simply trying to maintain our fitness level and keep our weight at check, thirty minutes of daily exercise will be enough to achieve the desired results. However, for those of us who need to get rid of excess weight or really have to get our muscle tone back in order, forty-five to sixty minutes 5 days a week is ideal. You can build up to this target slowly, however.

Most of the time we cannot find the motivation, because the word exercising in our minds evokes feelings of pain and suffering! It needn’t be this way. This is why we should focus on those aerobic exercises that can turn a workout plan into really enjoyable pastimes.

Tennis

Sports activities with friends or a group of people can really motivate exercising. Think of all the amusing sports we can share with others while having fun. Take tennis for instance, you can organise a game twice a week with a friend, or even play doubles. Other team sports are ideal to get the necessary aerobic exercise we need, such as basketball, volleyball, hockey, and football just to name a few. Try thinking back to your school days. Which were the sports you used to enjoy the most? Why not take a team sport up again, you will find amateur sports teams for you to practice and get plenty of exercise whilst meeting new friends. We believe that no matter who you are there is a sport you will love. You perhaps just haven’t found it yet!

If team sports were never really your strong point, you can opt for cycling or even roller-skating. Here again, you could ask a friend to join you and go cycling or skating in the park. These activities are very good for your overall muscle tone and they are such fun, you will not even realise that you are actually getting some exercise done. If you live in colder areas, ice-skating is another alternative to roller-skating.

For those who cannot stand the word ‘exercise’ even if it can mean fun, then the perfect solution in dancing. Nearly all of us enjoy dancing, in addition, we do not usually associate it with exercise. Now, there are several ways you can take up dancing, but the best way is probably to join a dancing class or club. First try to determine what kind of dancing you would like to undertake, be it salsa, ballroom dancing, samba amongst many other types, then look around for a school or dance club and join. Dancing has many benefits it is good for the body and morale, you will be surprised at how entertaining it is, as well as all the people you will be meeting.

If the weather is not encouraging your good intentions, then try swimming as an alternative. Swimming is ideal for keeping your muscle tone in shape and burning excess calories. Another advantage of swimming is that it is not stressful for our back or other parts of our body, which may be more sensitive to strain.

For the older generations who cannot picture themselves playing a game of basketball or soccer or any other game that is too stressful, they can opt for a younger generation game, such as the Wii Fit games. These are excellent substitutes for ‘real’ exercises, as there is no aftermath of pain and exhaustion to endure. This is an ideal way to enjoy playing games with children or grandchildren, while getting that extra physical activity.
